Client Etiquette 101: How to Work with Your Designer

So, there’s something that we need to talk about. There is a such thing as etiquette when it comes to working with an Interior Designer.

As a Designer, our business relies on the relationships we form with various vendors, creatives, and other professionals that lend their talents to bringing our visions to life. There is so much that goes into these pretty pictures and fancy rooms and all I ask of you is to please understand that.

At this time, there are many variables that are outside of my control. As much as I would like to teleport that King-size bed into your home, we all know that God didn’t make us that way. Designers don’t have special powers and therefore, patience is required. The whole world is dealing with shipment delays and super long lead times. We must be patient like never, ever before.

We are all in this pandemic together. Please respect the chain of command that has been outlined for you. Even if you are able to walk into a few places that your Designer does business, understand that there’s a possibility that your Designer may not work with the sales rep you communicated with directly.

Again, we form relationships that last past your project. If your order has problems, the scheduling, and/or maintenance issues will be handled through the rep whom you purchased from.

Lastly, bad behavior will not be rewarded. Working with a Designer has it benefits, and they don’t have to shared.

I say all this to simply say. TRUST the designer you hired!

- Respectfully, Your Designer Lauren Ashley
