A Seat at the Table

As someone who follows my journey on Instagram, you might have already caught a glimpse of the extraordinary experience I recently had at Design Edge Houston, presented by PaperCity Magazine.

Design Edge Houston: This exclusive mini furniture market, accessible only to industry professionals, offers a captivating showcase of all things home furnishings. It provided the perfect backdrop for my team and me to dive headfirst into some exciting design projects we’ve been diligently working on.

However, the highlight of this event transcended all expectations - an unforgettable evening with some of the industry’s biggest names, hosted by Luxe Magazine. Among these luminaries, one name shone the brightest: Benjamin Johnston.

A few months ago, while visiting the Fabricut Showroom, I candidly shared my desire to meet Benjamin Johnston. His latest fabric collection in collaboration with S. Harris left me in awe. Little did I know that fate had a delightful surprise in store for me.

During the event, I found myself engrossed in a captivating conversation with a charming gentleman who introduced himself as Ben. It wasn’t until later in the evening that the realization struck me like a bolt of lightning - I had been talking to none other than THEE Benjamin Johnston himself! We not only chatted away but also had the pleasure of sharing a dinner table.

Before the night concluded, I couldn't resist sharing my revelation with Benjamin, and we shared a hearty laugh over it. We even took a selfie together and sent it to rockstar manager Tod Tremont of Fabricut, who had assured me of Benjamin's kindness and wealth of knowledge. Tod's words couldn't have been more accurate.

This encounter served as a powerful reminder of the importance of self-belief and the principle that giving to others, even within the same field, only enriches our own journey. It was a timely and inspiring reminder to keep pushing forward in the pursuit of my dreams.

As I reflect on this remarkable evening, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunities and connections that continue to shape my design career. I am committed to sharing more exciting updates and inspirations with you in the coming months.
